to san jose. we are in san grows -- we start with claudine in santa cruz. >> reporter: we are standing at the start of the procession. the folks told to gather here starting about seven this morning and in the last several minutes we have seen activity. take a look to the side of me. you can see three buses that are lined up along this street. they have the santa cruz police emblem on them and a sign. we assume possibly members of the department will ride these buses down the procession. i want to show you what's happening in this parking lot just near the boardwalk here. you can see motor officers starting to line up their motorcycles. they will stage there and then move to the start of the procession. this procession, ready to leave about 8:45 but everybody was told to gather about seven this morning so it'll just get busier. the morning has started in this community. everybody is still trying to dumb to terms with the loss of the two officers. there was a memorial last night at the santa cruz memorial funeral home. just a chance for people, friends, family, strangers to come. there
the suspects could have been linked to an armed robbery in san jose. here's the intersection where the drive-by shooting happened and police were led on a wild chase through three east bay cities late last night. our cameras caught the chase north through 880. police tried to pull the driver other in hayward for dui and reckless driving. but he sped off through san leandro and oakland. the car spun out of control between 580 between harrison and park and police cars slammed into it to box the car in. officers say people were throwing things out on the roadway. they never found the objects but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when it finally stopped. >> they pursued the vehicle in oakland where it crossed across the center median. the three occupants were taken into custody from there. >> reporter: police believe those three could be tied to a shooting in hayward early yesterday afternoon. a man was driving with his wife and child at tennyson and kalaroga when he was struck by a bullet and taken to the hospital. he's expected to survive. a hayward police officer tweeted around mid

're live in san jose, i'm damien tra hujillo, nbc news. >>> relief for the police who reached that little girl in the suv. he's sharing his story. officer acosta shared his reaction when he found her. >> she appeared like an 11-month-old would. she appeared distraught, kind of lost r lost, dazed. so she was happy to see us. >> officer acosta even rode with the little girl to the hospital and stayed there until she was reunited with his mother. the experience was emotional for him as well as the father of a 6-year-old and 2-year-old children. >>> a castro valley man is now dead after being shot by police last week. investigators say terrence barry called the alameda sheriff's office friday, told dispatchers he was going to shoot up the world. he also told them he had a machine gun. deputies arrived in an armored vehicle and spied barry in the bushes. at that point barry pointed what they thought was an assault rifle at them. they opened fire. after, the investigators learned it was only a homemade replica weapon. barry was hit twice and died at the hospital yesterday. >>> her family calls

(male announcer) this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. >> tonight - a man is in surgery after being shot by police in castro valley. police were responding to a call from his family -- saying he'd been threatening others inside the family home. the man then called police himself, saying if they arrived - he'd shoot. police later found the suspect hiding in a bush in a driveway pointing what police believed was a gun. police shot him - and then discovered it was a home- made replica. they have not released details of the man's condition -- or his identity. parents in san leandro may be holding their children a little tighter tonight. as kron four's philippe djegal reports. police are investigating an attempted child abduction at an elementary school. >> reporter: ten minutes before school let out tuesday aft

near downtown san jose last night. police say a teenaged boy aroec approached a man at 19th street not far from san jose high school. they say he demanded money and stabbed the man. a few minutes later, the same suspect confronted another man three blocks away. the suspect hit that man in the head. both victims were treated for minor injuries. the suspect did manage to escape with some cash. >>> the woman accused of kicking a toddler in golden gate park is back in court this morning. i'll take it from here. sabrina bell was supposed to be arraigned last week but police say she could not appear because she was yelling and screaming in her holding cell. police say bell kicked a young girl in the chest on march 11th, knocking her to the pavement. the girl was not seriously injured. bell also allegedly threatened the young mother at the park. >>> the cyclist accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian in san francisco's castro district facing felony vehicular manslaughter charges today. prosecutors say he ran multiple red lights and stop signs last year before running into the victim a
dollars. police are still looking for the suspect who stole a car in san jose with an 11- month old girl in it this morning. baby gabriela was found hours later in the abandoned s-u-v gabriella has been reunited with her mother. san jose police was tipped off about the stolen jeep and officer responded. that was when they found gabriella inside the car. officer acosta rode with gabriella to the hospital. the youngster was given a toy to play with during the ride. then she was reunited with her mom. >> she started crying but then became very excited when she saw her mother. he was a very dramatic situationan 11-month old girl, taken amber alert cancelled. police discovered baby gabriela hours later in the abandoned s-u-v. today-- the suspect is still on the loose. officer carlos acosta describing the moments when he found 11 month old gabriella quintana late monday morning. gabriella had been missing for several hours a tip was called in about a suspicious jeep and officer acosta responded with his partner. the jeep was parked and the hazard lights were flashing. gabriella was inside. off
